Unlock Your iPhone’s Hearing Power

Would you like the iPhone you already carry to help you hear and understand conversation better? If so, then join Shannon Tyree on Tuesday, October 20th at 1PM for an enlightening session on how the phone you already carry can become one of your most powerful tools for better hearing. Tyree will show you how modern technology can bridge the gaps in your hearing.

Tyree lost her hearing at age 30 and since then has been looking for tangible ways to help understand the sounds around her. She is presently the Vice President of the Hearing Loss Association of America’s (HLAA) West Valley Chapter, and in 2025 received the National HLAA’s Community Service Award. She is a Board Member of the Global Alliance of Speech-to-Text Captioning and is on the Board and a trainer at Diamond Dogz of Arizona where she trains hearing service dogs. She and her husband Tom have lived in PebbleCreek for 14 years.

This class focuses specifically on iPhones only. Use this checklist to see which features your specific phone supports:

Live Listen iPhone 5’s or later

Sound Recognition iPhone 6’s or later - iOS 14+ Check version

Live Captions iPhone 11 or later - iOS 16+ Check Model

Pro Tip: If your phone is an iPhone 11 or newer, but your iOS version is lower than 16, you can update it by going to Settings > General > Software Update to unlock these features. Bring your phone and your curiosity. You’ll leave with tools to help you hear and communicate better.
