Valley Fever (or coccidioidomycosis) is a disease caused by a fungus that lives in the soil here in the southwest. On Monday, March 2, 10 a.m., Brandon Howard will explain what Valley Fever is, how people and animals become infected with it, and how it affects the body. Who is most at risk? What are the symptoms to watch out for?
Howard will go over the epidemiology of Valley Fever here in Maricopa County and what is being done to improve prevention, testing and treatment. Discussion will be on what public health is doing to improve awareness and understanding in the community and among healthcare providers and what research is being conducted.
