Monday Speaker Series
The Monday Speaker Series Team is vetting and selecting new events for the 2026 Fall - 2027 Spring season. Check back late summer 2026 for updates.
Mark your calendars and don’t miss any of LifeLong Learning's 2026 events celebrating the 250th birthday of the United States of America!
Monday, October 19, the LifeLong Learning Monday Speakers Series will kick off with ASU Professor Mark Cruse who will explain the critical importance of the entry of France into the Revolutionary War on the side of the Americans. How close was America to not becoming America? Visit the Renaissance Theater on Monday morning, October 19, to learn and reflect on the infancy of a new nation.
Monday, November 2, learn how America’s rivers nourished the new nation and then powered its progress and westward expansion with former riverboat captain Tom Struve. Captain Struve will explain the critical importance of the network of waterways – in war, peace, and commerce - which served to make America what she is now at a youthful 250.
Monday, November 16, join historian Jim Turner for a study in freedom as Jim describes the miracle of the Declaration of Independence and honors the men who were brave enough to break with Britain and bold enough to set America on its own path; a nation born of the Age of Enlightenment and different from any other that had ever existed.
